Senior Staff Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The Senior Staff Accountant at Harts Services will play a crucial role in overseeing Accounts Receivable and Payable, supporting the Controller with advanced general accounting tasks. This position demands a strong attention to detail, compliance with GAAP, and confidentiality. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for more complex accounting functions and will regularly report to management on performance metrics, covering daily accounting operations and special projects.

JOB PARAMETERS:

  • Position Type: Full-time, exempt
  • Typical Schedule: Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.
  • Annual salary of $78,000 – $90,000

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounts Receivable and Payable

  • Processing and batching of A/R invoices, receipts, and payments from ServiceTitan to SAGE.
  • Reconcile sales, sales tax, and payments between ServiceTitan and SAGE.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings.
  • Update and reconcile job sheets.
  • Collect and process A/R payments from field technicians.
  • Monitor and collect unpaid A/R balances and process collections, as necessary.
  • Process A/R refunds and maintain A/R customer records.
  • Manage customer refunds.

Payroll Assistance

  • Assist with payroll journal entries, reconcile payroll expenses, and liability accounts between UKG and SAGE.
  • Assist with payroll audits and prepare documentation as required.
  • Serve as a backup to Payroll Specialist as needed.

Treasury Functions

  • Perform and manage treasury functions, including deposits, inter-bank transfers for A/P, and other cash/treasury needs, as well as bank reconciliations.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved efficiently.
  • Maintain online treasury credentials on company logs.

General Ledger

  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts.
  • Review balance sheet and profit and loss for accuracy.
  • Ability to generate, create report packets for management review and approval.

KPI Management & Meetings

  • Update Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as assigned and attend required meetings.
  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings, presenting financial updates and addressing concerns.

Process Improvement & Special Projects

  • Establish processes, procedures, and organization as required.
  • Lead special projects related to accounting and finance as directed by the Controller.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES:

  • 4+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Accounting certification or degree required.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial data analysis.
  • Proficient in accounting software preferable SAGE, Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Experience in training or mentoring junior staff is a plus.
